Who we are
UPSCROLL is made by Knackebrod, a small studio in the Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce/KvK number: [KvK number]). We're responsible for the personal data described here. Questions? Email hej@knackebr0d.com.
What stays on your phone
Your progress lives on your device: your best height, coins, unlocked items, stamps, outfit and settings. We don't receive it, and deleting the app deletes it.
What goes online (the leaderboards)
To show the leaderboards and the rival flags on your wall, the game connects to Unity Gaming Services, run by Unity Technologies. This is what they store for us:
- An anonymous player ID. It's created the first time you play. It isn't linked to your name, email, Apple ID or Google account.
- Your leaderboard nickname. The game picks a random one (like "Mossy Penguin"). You can change it, and names go through a filter.
- Your heights. These are your scores on the weekly, all-time and league boards.
- Your outfit. Which character, hat, backpack, charm and name tag you wear, so others see you dressed up on the boards.
- When your run started. We use it only to check that a height is possible in the time you climbed, so the boards stay fair.
Like any internet connection, these requests also carry your IP address and basic technical details (such as the device type and app version). Unity processes this data on our behalf, under their privacy policy. Their servers may be outside the EU; Unity uses the EU's standard contractual clauses for that.
We use this data for one thing: running the leaderboards (our legitimate interest in offering this game feature). If you're offline, the game simply plays without them.
What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising IDs.
- No analytics or tracking tools.
- We never sell or share your data with anyone else.
- No in-app purchases right now. If we add them, they will go through the App Store or Google Play, and we'll update this page.
Kids
UPSCROLL is made for everyone. We don't ask for names, ages, emails or photos, nicknames are random or filtered, and players can't send each other messages.
How long we keep it
Weekly and league boards start fresh every week. Your all-time entry stays until you ask us to remove it.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your leaderboard data, or object to how we use it. Email hej@knackebr0d.com and tell us your nickname. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If the game starts doing something new with data, we'll update this page and the date at the top before it ships.
